“Help Mohamed and His Cat Lulu Find Safety”

Mohammed Nasr, owner of the cat Lulu, as he responds to questions from the Gaza Help Team about his relationship with this cat that never leaves him, the child said: “Her name is Lulu, and whenever she hears the bombing, she runs and hides. She is our friend and means a lot to me, my beloved.”

Nasr spoke about his story with Lulu during the war that broke out on October 7th last year, saying: “I brought her from the north because she is afraid of the bombing, and I was afraid she would get lost, so I brought her with me to protect her. I feed her and we drink together, and outside the tent, someone donates cans of meat and cheese, and we all share it, and she eats with us.”

Nasr, with his eyes shining with innocence, and shining even brighter when he looks at Lulu, said with his charming smile: “Lulu is very dear to me. I play and walk with her, and my siblings play with her too, and she also plays with them and with the neighbors’ cats.”

Nasr expressed his amazement when asked about risking his life to save a cat, and he exclaimed in his response: “What’s the difference between her and a human? Animals feel, if they don’t have food, they will be hungry, if they don’t have water, they will be thirsty. What’s the difference between her and a human? She feels and senses, and if you hit her, she will feel pain.”

Nasr confirmed that he risked his life to ensure a life for Lulu and to reassure her at a time when he needs a thousand hands to comfort him, after the war destroyed his family and scattered them, he said: “I brought her from our home and we sacrificed our lives. We paid $250 from our money to go to the north and bring her back only, we paid more than her right.”

محمد نصار، صاحب القطة لولو، وهو يُجيب على أسئلة فريق مساعدة غزة حول علاقته بهذه القطة التي لا تفارقه، فقال الطفل: “اسمها لولو، وكلما سمعت القصف تهرب وتتخبى. إنها صديقتنا وتعني لي الكثير، حبيبتي”.

وتحدث نصار عن قصته مع لولو خلال الحرب التي اندلعت في السابع من أكتوبر الماضي، قائلاً: “أحضرتها من الشمال لأنها تخاف من القصف، وخشيت أن تضيع، لذا جلبتها معي لأحميها. أطعمها ونشرب معًا، وخارج الخيمة يتبرع شخص بعلب لحم وجبنة، ونتقاسمها جميعًا وتأكل معنا”.

وعبّر نصار، وعيناه تتلألأ نورًا من براءتها، وتزيد تألقًا عندما يلقي نظرة على لولو، قائلاً بابتسامته الساحرة: “لولو كثير عزيزة علي، ألعب معها وأتنزه بها، وأخوتي يلعبون معها أيضًا، وهي أيضًا تلعب معهم ومع بساط الجيران”.

وأبدى نصار دهشته عندما سُئل عن تضحيته بحياته لإنقاذ قطة، فانفعل في إجابته: “ما الفرق بينها وبين الإنسان؟ الحيوان يشعر، لو لم تكن لديها طعام ستجوع، لو لم تكن لديها ماء ستعطش. ما الفرق بينها وبين الإنسان؟ إنها تحس وتشعر، وإذا ضربتها ستشعر بالألم”.

وأكد نصار أنه خاطر بحياته لتأمين حياة لولو، واطمأنها في وقت يحتاج فيه إلى ألف يد تطبطب عليه، بعد أن دمرت الحرب أسرته وشردتهم، فقال: “أحضرتها من بيتنا وضحينا بروحنا، دفعنا 250 دولارًا من فلوسنا لنذهب إلى الشمال ونجلبها فقط، دفعنا فيها أكثر من حقها”.
