Musa’s Story from Gaza Facing Death and Darkness

“Name: Musa, 21 years old, from Gaza. I’m a student at Al-Quds Open University, in my third year studying IT. I had a dream to finish my studies and leave this country to achieve my dream like any young person in the world with aspirations and goals. But… because of this war, all dreams began to shatter when our house was destroyed and all the beautiful memories vanished in this war. My younger siblings were injured due to the bombings, and my mother suffers from chronic illnesses like hypertension and thyroid issues with no access to proper treatment. My father, an elderly man, has no source of income for us. However, by the grace of God, we miraculously survived. Now, my family and I sleep on the streets as we have nothing left in our country except our lives. My family consists of 8 members, mostly children under 18. My sisters and I are in desperate need to travel outside this country; it’s not a choice but a necessity. To leave, we need $5,000 to coordinate with Hala Egypt Company. We need your support to escape death.”

“اسمي موسى، عمري ٢١ عامًا، من قطاع غزة. أنا طالب في جامعة القدس المفتوحة، في السنة الثالثة في تخصص تكنولوجيا المعلومات. كان لدي حلم بإكمال دراستي ومغادرة هذا البلد لتحقيق حلمي، مثل أي شاب في العالم لديه أحلام وتطلعات وأهداف. ولكن… بسبب هذه الحرب، بدأت جميع الأحلام تتلاشى عندما دُمر منزلنا في هذه الحرب، وذهبت كل الذكريات الجميلة. أصيب أشقائي الأصغر سنًا بسبب القصف، وتعاني والدتي من أمراض مزمنة مثل ارتفاع ضغط الدم ومشاكل في الغدة الدرقية، دون وجود علاج ملائم. ووالدي، رجل كبير في السن، ليس لديه مصدر دخل لنا. ومع ذلك، بفضل الله، نجونا بعجائب. الآن، نحن ننام على الشوارع لأنه لم يبقَ لنا شيء في بلدنا سوى حياتنا. عائلتي تتكون من ٨ أفراد، معظمهم أطفال دون سن الثامنة عشر. أخواتي وأنا بأمس الحاجة للسفر خارج هذا البلد؛ فهو ليس اختيارًا بل ضرورة.
